shelf pick-up in test stores

Brief

Halden roasts six coffees and every bag looked different. They wanted one system that a part-time team can print in-house.

What I did

One kraft bag for all six coffees, a roast-colour stamp and two label sizes. I set the type, drew the stamp and wrote a one-page print guide.

Result

In four test stores, shelf pick-up rose 24% in the first month, and the team now prints its own labels.

Halden Coffee Roasters is a two-person roastery in Lisbon with a Saturday team of three. Each of their six coffees had grown its own bag, label and colour, so the shelf looked like six brands.

One bag, one stamp

I kept the kraft bag they already bought in bulk and moved everything that changes into a stamp and a label. The stamp carries the roast colour; the label carries origin, roast date and tasting notes in two sizes.

Printed in-house

The labels print on the office laser printer. A one-page guide shows the Saturday team where each sticker goes, so nobody waits for a designer.

The same bag now carries a seasonal seventh coffee with nothing new to print but a stamp colour.
